A full house for diabetes education

The QCH Diabetes and Endocrinology Team hosted an Interprofessional Diabetes Education Workshop with a full house of QCH frontline staff.

The workshop attracted 25 attendees, ranging from RPNs to physiotherapists. The topics included in-patient case studies, transitioning to community resources, wearable technology, foot care, and nutritional management to enhance bedside practice and patient education.

The feedback was extremely positive, with all participants indicating that the content was directly relevant to their clinical role.

A nurse who has been with QCH for 11 years (and also teaches at Algonquin College) said, “This was by far the best education day I have ever attended!” She mentioned that she really appreciated learning about the newer medications, the technology and nutrition.

Special thanks to presenters Kim Finch RN, CDE; Isabelle Mongeon RD (CDEPO); Dr. Janine Malcom; Dr. Irenea Druce; Dr. Jill Trinacty; Jackie Kachuik RD, CDE; and Andrea Trainer APN. Kudos to Kim Finch for organizing this event and to Abbot, Novo Nordisk, and Dexcom for participating.
