Leading in Hospital Sustainability
At Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH), we are proud to be advancing sustainability in health care through our ongoing green energy initiatives. Our journey began in 2016 with the parking garage lighting conversion project, and since then, we have continued to implement projects that contribute to environmental responsibility and operational efficiency.
The most recent projects are:
Installation of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs): Allowing us to optimize energy use in key systems.
Conversion to Interior LED Lighting: Modern, efficient lighting that reduces both energy use and maintenance needs.
Together with recent operational changes to our cogeneration (Cogen) system, these initiatives have delivered significant results:
A 10% reduction in overall energy consumption
A 40% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
Approximately $350,000 in annual cost savings while reducing QCH’s impact on climate change.
We are committed to continuing our green journey by reducing our carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency, an important responsibility for all organizations, particularly those in health care.
