"When it comes to working in healthcare, many essential behind‑the‑scenes roles contribute significantly to patient care. As dietitians, we know that access to food is fundamental, and while there are many steps involved in getting meals to patients, none of it would be possible without the first step: ensuring the food gets through the door. We would like to pass the Golden Q along to the small but mighty team of stores clerks.

This team maintains an impressive weeklong stock of food to nourish patients at both the main site and Park Place, all within a relatively small space. They adapt continuously to changes in bed counts, food supplies, supplier contracts, budget constraints, workspace layouts, and more.

Working seamlessly with the diet office, clinical diet technicians, and the administrative dietitian, they ensure that last‑minute changes are communicated and managed without impacting patient care. When food supply shortages arise (which happens more often than most people realize!), they proactively seek alternatives and collaborate with the team to find suitable products for our patients, usually with a smile and a laugh.
