Leslie Froome – 2025 Dr. John and Amy Russell Award
Meet Leslie Froome, recipient of the 2025 Dr. John and Amy Russell Award.
The Dr. John and Amy Russell Award recognizes an employee who consistently upholds these values, going above and beyond to ensure the well-being and comfort of our geriatric patients. Their dedication not only enhances the quality of care but also reflects the core values that define Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Leslie took the lead in creating our Geriatric Emergency Department Daily Rounding, bringing together physicians, social workers and the care coordinator every day to assess older patients who stayed overnight as quickly as possible. It’s made a huge different in improving the quality of care and timeliness of discharge.
Here is what her co-workers said about her:
“She is genuinely loved by the entire ED team. She’s known for her positive attitude, advocacy for patients, and bringing compassion to every interaction.”
Another said “I have the privilege of working side by side with her and I get to witness her comprehensive assessment skills. Her work style and kind approach is inspiring.”
And another said: “She is very humble, but she is one of those special souls who truly excels in her work. She is one of the best things to every happen to the QCH emergency department!”
Patients have noticed her as well – we have received many thank you notes for the manner in which she provided care, treating them with kindness, dignity and respect.
Congratulations, Leslie!
