Offload RN: ED Xcellence Project

At Queensway Carleton Hospital, we’ve introduced a dedicated Offload RN (Registered Nurse) as part of our ED Xcellence Project — and the results are already showing.

Once patients who arrive by ambulance are triaged through the EMS triage nurse, a dedicated Ambulance Offload Nurse provides care to patients until they are moved into the Emergency Department. The Offload RN provides immediate care, monitors patients, and ensures they are safely transitioned into the Emergency Department, all while enabling paramedics to get back on the road quickly.

This new role is a smart, efficient use of resources that keeps patients safe and improves ambulance availability across the city.
